About CMSA

Our Mission

Created in 1985, the Canadian Meat Science Association (CMSA) is a non-profit organization which represents all sectors of the Canadian meat industry, from academia and government to private processing.

Our mission is to facilitate a deeper scientific understanding of meat to address the needs of Canada’s largest food processing industry.

Our Strategic Alliance

Central to our success is our longstanding partnership with the Canadian Meat Council (CMC). For decades, the CMC has been a foundational supporter of our mission. Today, this partnership remains vital through the CMC-sponsored Scholarship Funds, which directly empower the next generation of Canadian meat scientists.

Beyond financial support, the CMC is a key collaborator in our professional development forums, providing essential support for our Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and Technical Symposiums. We are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to advancing meat science in Canada.
